RyanSpaulding
Quick Q, I have a model on our work network drive that is linked already. Now, am I able to take this model, put it on say an external HD, work on the DWG at home, bring it back to work, save it over the linked version, and update? Someone was telling me you couldn't....that ANY change in location would destroy the link as Max would read it as a different file.
JamesTaylor
i've never had a problem when i've done this, as long the layering / stucture of the file is still the same. i.e walls are still on the walls layer and doors are still on the doors layer etc. You don't even have to overwrite your original file, you can just save the new file in sequencial manner and point the file link to the new file. I would obviously test this for your scenerio and even save a sequencial max file incase you have any problems, but it not caused me issues in the past.
