Jason Matthews
I am having a problem with textures becoming real grainy in the softer shadows of the sun, sometimes in the hard shadows. Is there any setting that I can change to stop this from happening?. It kinda looks like an area shadow that needs to increase sharpness. Jason Matthews
i do not know how to post an image. Can you tell me how?
Jason Matthews
I am using Radiosity. Logarythmic Exposure, not exterior, brightness set at 40, contrast set at 50, midtones set at .5, and raytraced shadows for the sun, which is the sun system at 8400 lx. It might be somthing to do with the ambient color of the materials, but that is only for color not shadow. It looks like the sample range is set to high, but i do not believe there is a sample range to adjust on the sun system. I guess I will try to use a target direct light and see if that makes a difference. Thanks
smoke3dstudio
i don't think it's the shadow settingproblem and not too sure if it is "refine iteration" or "filtering"in radiosity. Another posibility is your skylight setting.
CRD
Do me a favor and try to render a version with no bump values on the materials. If that looks different, then your problem lies in the values of your bump in ambient light. You can change this is with a override material and the indirect light bump scale. If not, just ignore me. Jason Matthews
http://www.cgarchitect.com/forum/filepush.asp?file=test_11.jpg OK, here it is. It's just a test with radiosity, but it is something that I have always had a problem with. Thanks
