Tom Hamelrijckx
Hey guys, I'm considering buying a precision M90 laptop with 2.16 processor core 2 duo, and Quandro FX2500 M, using sketchup, max, vue, photoshop Two questions; -The 2.33 Ghz version is way more expensive, so I figured; if I do rendering on renderfarm, my 2.16 will be largely sufficient, no? -Is there a big difference between FX2500M and 3500M? Thanks a lot...
Tom Hamelrijckx
... In the meanwhile, system config for my new laptop has changed; I might go for the precision 4300 with 2.4 MHz, 2G and Quadro FX360M. Reason is that I want to be able to work on location occasionaly (using Max 8, finalrender, skecthup, vue, Photoshop) and have a good balance between price and power. I've got two questions... -I'm a bit scared about that quadro FX360M though (64 bit memory interface). But just to be sure not being disapointed; I'm using now a Geforce 6600GT(256M) on a desktop, and the video card on the laptop was a radeon 9000 (64M), which are'nt very powerfull cards neither, but they do my job very well. I'll be OK with that FX360M? -Anybody knows how max8, sketchup 6 and Vue6 behave on dual core? Some reaction on this maybe? (Come on it's christmas, make an effort :-)
AJLynn
That Quadro will be pretty weak. Are there any options that involve a good Geforce card instead of the Quadro?
Tom Hamelrijckx
Actually, I'd prefer a good Geforce card, but I can't find any of those on a laptop with a high resolution 15.4" screen that has at least WSXGA (I'm used working wit a 15.4" WUXGA) You know any? Thanks for keeping my thread alive :-)
AJLynn
By WSXGA you mean 1680x1050? I don't know what vendor you'd use in Belgium but if I go to newegg.com, to the Laptops/Notebooks section and click Screen Size 15"-17", then Screen Size 15.4", then Resolution 1680x1050, I get 25 options at a pretty wide price gamut. Some of these look quite good - for example, this one has a C2D 2.2GHz, a real video card, can upgrade to 4GB RAM, has a HDMI port and comes with a 2 year warranty and accidental damage coverage for $1500.
