robert_mcg
Is it possible to do good arch (interior and exterior) renderings using Lightwave 5.6 ? Any comments welcome, thank you.
Limbus
With the right skill and passion you will be able to produce nice images but it will be much harder with it. I think 5.6 does not habe GI yet so you have to fake the whole lighting situation. BTW: Did you know that you can upgrade any LW version to the newest version for the same amount of money? You can go from 5.6 to 9.31 for 395$ and get SpeedEdit with it for free. -> http://shop.newtek.com/ Cheers, Florian

What do you think of LCad? Thank you. rm

You mean LWCAD? Its awesome for archviz. Very cool modeling and snapping tools. But I dont think it will work with 5.6. Cheers, Florian
IC
5.6 was the version I started with and although it was great at the time, things have a come a long way since then, most notably in the last 12 months. I can't imagine trying to do arch viz with 5.6. You'd be better off (feature wise) with a free software solution like Blender+Yafray+Indigo. robert_mcg
I was a volunteer at a community computer lab and had many hours with blender, downloaded many tutorials, but could never get the hang of it. The renders I saw from others was what made me try it. I'll google Yafray+Indigo, as I've never heard of them. I have access to someone elses computer that has 7.5 (they never use it, don't knw why they bought it) and I plan to get much more time on it. Since I do have unlimited access to 5.6 I'll model on that and take it to 7 for the renders. I saw some video tutorials for LWCad and I WANT it ! If there are pros here, have you been hurt by the downturn in the housing market ? rm
IC
http://www.indigorenderer.com/joomla/ Indigo is like Maxwell but free. Still in development but worth looking into and if you can get your head round Blender, they work well together apparently.
