Horhe
Hi folks, just wondering if you could specify how many years have you been working in the CG industry. You could add one line summarising the time spent bent over the keyboard during all those sleepless nights Thought it might be a good idea to have an estimation of the time spent by members, doing CG, on this forum. Ive been working for approximatelly 6 years now (excluding sundays ) Its bloody consumed a lot of my time... but i sure dont regret it

bjornkn
For my own use, professionally, since late 86. For paying clients, since around 93. And yes - it does consume a lot of the time/life
Nils Norgren
Started in the industry in 93, started up our company in 95, Still can't believe how little Myself and my partners knew when we started. It's been a long haul, and the stress has never left, it has just changed form. -Nils

rotten42
wow...its already been 5 years with my own company. ..a.bout 1.5 years playing around with it before then. I think I might take a few months off. I'm feeling really burnt out right now. Too many people wanting too many projects on tight timelines. ronll
To you "old-timers" working since '86 or '87, what was the software like then? What rendering engines were you using?
aaron-cds
learned 3d rendering from 98 to 2001 as an architect rendering my own projects, no 3d work from 2002 to 2005, started a 3d company in 2005, been solo ever since and loving it. It seems like I have one foot on the architecture cliff and one foot on the rendering cliff. I don't want to take my foot away from architecture so I keep my license active. There's no way I could go back and work as an architect in an office now. It would be too much of a pay cut and not as much fun.
