setting a base point?

hi guys im just modelling up a site plan, ive created the road as a spline, as there is a lot of level changes, i want to set the base point of the spline on the spline but its miles away which causes problems when i scale... any ideas thanks dan

Structure> Axis Center> Center Axis To

 

... that is if you're using C4D R10 - otherwise you can look for 3rd party plugin called axis center.
