Architectural firm

When applying for jobs in Architecture for 3d modeling, what do the companies look for in general. I would like to do interior/exterior models, landscapes, cars, etc. I use 3ds max 9 and work with photoshop CS2, aftereffects, fireworks, etc. I'm just curious because I may need to add more stuff in my portfolio. I would like to land a job in an architectural firm designing landscapes for them.

getting a job in an architectural office the major things they look for is your ability to read architectural drawings and understand how things go together. If you have this knowledge as well as 3d modelling, you will have no problem finding a position in this field. I would recommend that in your portfolio you get some floor plans and from those floor plans model the building as shown. This will show you have the ability required to work from working drawings.

well I do have 3d knowledge and I am able to transfer autoCAD drawings into 3ds max and work from there on building a 3d model of a room, kitchen, etc.

what do you mean exactly by "reading architectural drawings"

Do you know where there places in the US were a significant amount of architectural firms are?

thanks:)
