Claudio Branch
I have a night scene that I am working on and I want to use a volume effect on an array of free spot lights. The illumination is coming along just fine, but I can't seem to get the volume effect to work with V-Ray. Any suggestions?
kippu
well a) you can use scanline and get volumetric effect and then add it in photoshop or http://www.evermotion.org/index.php?unfold_exclusive=64&unfold=exclusive

Ricardo Eloy
Simply use shadow map instead of vray shadow and it will work just fine.
Claudio Branch
Thanks for the help everyone, I got it working. Shadow Map is the winner!
Claudio Branch
Anybody else experiencing longer render times when using the volume effect? I am using very low GI & sampling settings and it is still just crawling...
tedesco
I found the problem is in using Vray camera. Try using a standard Max camera or rendering the volume light in a separate render and compositing it in PS.
Eric Sosa
this shot was made with vray physicalcam & volume ligth applyied on a standar spot ligth with vray shadows. it did not take longer that if it had been made with standard cam..I did tested when I made the render. perhaps it's just a matter to finding the rigth volume ligth parameters...dunno
