ABK
This is my first post on here so hi everyone. I'm interested in rendering 32-bit floating point images in 3DS max so I can alter the exposure afterwards and not worry to much about getting it spot on in the render itself. Don't know if anyone has done this. I'm using CS3 and heard talk of this kind of thing but generally I'm lost on where to start. (Have rendered a 32-bit floating point image though, it's a start). Any tips?
bjornkn
I guess the next step would be to load it into CS3 then In CS3 you get a small slider in the lower left part of your HDR window where you can change the exposure (preview), and in the image adjustments you can select to adjust the exposure. Or you could convert it to 8 or 16 bit mode, and get access to the tone mapping settings of CS3. There are also many other programs that let you tonemap HDRs. I would recommend taking a look at the HDRI Handbook by Christian Bloch (and others). http://tinyurl.com/2dgfzt at Amazon. Great book with lots of tips and software. Ricardo Eloy
Don't know if this is what you're looking for, but you can save your image in Max as an OpenEXR file and adjust its exposure within CS2.
