Guest nazcaLine
like everybody, i started modeling in cad then exporting to max. later i learned to model in max and made the switch completely years ago. can't compare in ease, flexibility and polycount optimization. BUT the only thing i really miss from CAD is the 3 point align. it's so easy, even with very complex geometry, and you can position in very weird angles!!! the align tools in max are very limited in my opinion. the normal align can help in some ocasions, but it has problems if you have used smoothing groups and you couldnt align with a spline network, for example. 3-point align NOW!! santiago
Hi Eduardo, I was born in Peru and I like keeping in touch with peruvians that work in 3D. I work in a design-build company in Vancouver, Canada, so I guess I can only reach you guys in Peru via email and online forums: san_tiago@hotmail.com Hope to hear from you soon! Crazy Homeless Guy
I am pretty sure I saw a script that did this recently. Do a search on google.

Guest nazcaLine
Ismael: it works really fine. only thing is, it asks you all three source points first (in cad you picked source-destination 1, source-destination 2, etc), and that when you pick the points you have to pick several times, it doesn't get the first one, don't know exactly why. anyway this is gonna make my life waaay much easier. thank you very much!! Jose Negrete
hey, I was in need of a point to point align like the one in ACAD. Thanks for bringing it up Eduardo. i also had trouble getting it to select the points even with the snap on. It does the job tho. Now if only you could get it to scale based on the origin points to the target points like the ACAD align tool. Jose.
Ismael
Eduardo, Glad it is useful to you. It has been like ages since I posted here or anywhere for that matter. Maybe this coming year...
