RyanSpaulding
Hey guys, I remember from rendering in Modo that one of the key things to get bricking to look good was to disable the texture AA for that material, which resulted in a sharper, more crisp render...and I'm looking to get some better detail in the bricking on this hotel I'm working on. I dont see this option in VRay...and I've changed the value in my Area AA filter and dont see any difference. Are there other tricks to getting the bricking to be nice and crisp from a distance? Should I be trying different AA filters?
Chad Warner
In the map slot for the brick, turn the bitmap filtering to "none" and reduce the blur amount value to less than 1.
Mechadus
if you use the Catmul-Rom filter with decent QMC AA settings (1,5) your bricks should render pretty nicely... Thats how I usually do it anyways -Nick
RyanSpaulding
I tried Chad's way and it work perfectly. Cutmul Rom filter eh? I may have to try that again. Last time I did though, it picked up my parking lot lines and gave them all extremely hard edges.
Chad Warner
I like catmull rom AA as well, but the main reason you were having problems is that Vray reacts differently to the bitmap filtering than regular scanline.
