mibs_studio
Hi all!! Happy New Year!! Hmm its a good starting when I received another workstation to work on for 3d visual. The problem is, I dont know how I can link both of my workstation so i can distribute my rendering task. Another basic question ( sorry I dont have any knowledge regarding networking ) Should I install 3ds max and vray in the new workstation?? To make it easy, I attached a basic layout of the network :
jucaro
You can have one license copy of 3ds max and vray and use distributed rendering either through vrays built in DR, or through 3ds max backburner as long as you have a working TCP/IP network. AJLynn
Is there a good reason for not putting both boxes on Network A? And is there a good reason to choose one box over the other as the main workstation? If you intend to do most of your work on box A and use box B as a render node you can probably just set something up where network B uses a different subnet (e.g., if all IP addresses on network A start with 192.168.1, have your addresses on network B start with 192.168.2) and if Windows is configured correctly, Max on box A will route network render jobs correctly.
