steven martin
I know you may wonder why but it's someting I must do. I wish to split up aec objects (primarily windows and doors) by materials to import into autocad. I have tried all the usual methods (i.e. exporting by materials etc) but it does not split the objects up when imported into autocad. Is there a fast way of doing this as I have a lot of objects? or do I have to split the objects up individually (which will take me forever)? id_ivan
export to .ls (layer creation by material, object creation none), reset scene -> import the .ls back (geometry may change a bit), export to .dwg hope it helps
William Alexander
Steve, I assume this is the viz based aec. You can use the edit mesh modifer. Apply to one object or all similar. Then in the "+Surface Properties" material section, use select by ID. http://www.cgarchitect.com/forum/filepush.asp?file=mat.jpg Use 1, 2, 3, ect to choose the elements by material. Once you know how the materials are applied, you can select and use detach-button in the "+Edit Geometry Section". http://www.cgarchitect.com/forum/filepush.asp?file=Det.jpg Give the detached meshes an new name, put it on an new layer ect. Only hitch would be you created the geometry in ADT and do not know what materials were asigned by default. Thats another post if that would be the case. Hope this helps. rgrds WDA
