johiem
Hi everyone, this is my first post so i will introduce myself: name: Joey Hiemstra location: Franeker, the Netherlands hobby's: playing the guitar, computing Ok that was me, now my problem. I like to model in sketchup, but i also have 3D studio max 9 lying around, so i installed and found 2 ways to import sketchup to 3ds max >> by .dwg .3ds but when i render this model (i attached a .zip file, but rename it to .dwg ) i uploaded it for you guys to see it yourself. I can only colour 1 part of the object that is the top part, ( they are groups in sketchup) what is the problem? excuse me for my bad construction of sentences. Regards, Joey Hiemstra P.S. does anyone know what is is? Or do you maybe know a better way yo go from sketchup to 3ds max
Dave Buckley
can't open the zip file. anyway, it could be a number of things causing the problem. a problem that i have found when importing objects into max from sketchup is that many of the faces are not oriented correctly. it is important that all of the faces of your object are facing the same way in sketchup before you import them into max. you could however do this max, if you apply a normal modifier to your objects in max and then flip the normals and try applying your materials again. this is just a wild guess as i cannot open your file in order to see the problem for myself. try and post a jpeg that shows the problem in more detail, also which render engine are you using as this can also play a part
