Tim Saunders
I have never had any luck installing the Maxtreme drivers. I finally wanted to get to the bottom of it. I have heard people raving about the performance enhancements by using this driver alone, but I have tried with 5 different releases of max, viz and maxtreme. Every attempt is a failure. I am running Max 2008 on Windows XP 32-bit. My Video card is Nvidia Quadro FX 3450 (I also have a 3400 on a second workstation). After installing the driver I get an error that an ini file was not found, but the driver was still installed. After switching the driver in Max, I exit and re-open max, but I get an error that says "Loading of custom driver failed. Forcing null driver mode." How can I make the driver work? I would really like to try it out.
martincg
Hello Timothy, do you have installed nvidia drivers for quadro too? http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_162.65.html i have fx 3450 with 32 bit max 9, 32 bit windows and no problem with that
gfa2
I have the FX 4500 and I had all kinds of problems getting Maxtreme to work. I did finally get it work by upgrading my Windows video drivers (even though the guys at Boxx said not to do it), but even then it seemed flaky. I just stick with the Direct3D drivers. If you crank the settings up for them, I think it does just as good.
Tim Saunders
Yeah, I have the latest quadro driver. I have been running off Direct3D display forever. I just wanted to try out Maxtreme. Looks like the consensus is to forget about Maxtreme, and stick with Direct3D.
gfa2
At the time that I experimented with this I was using max 8 and I found several versions of Maxtreme for max 8, and the one that ended up kind of working wasn't even the newest one. I got tired of wasting time on it.
Tommy Burns
I used it with max 9 and I never had a problem with it (quadro 4500) Now I have 2008 and I can't get a driver for it or else I haven't Installed it properly. Would love to use it again cos I never had any problems with it? Anyone using it with 2008
Matt McDonald
there is a bug in the Nvidia installer for the maxtreme 2008 driver. it installs the 64 bit driver on 32 bit max installs and vice versa. just copy the maxtreme.drv file for your appropriate os into the root max install folder. iancamarillo
in max 2008 using maxtreme, has anyone noticed objects shifting slightly when moving them in viewport?
danb4026
Is there a Maxtreme 2008 for Vista 64bit yet? From most of what i hear, it doesnt seem to be worth installing anyway. Any advice?
