Coreyhrpr
I've been a long time user of Lightscape (rest its cyber soul) and am now switched over to VIZ 4. In Lightscape there was an option on surface processing to display the texture as a raw texture. Meaning that the texture receives no global illumination and is displayed as it looks. Is there an option like that in Viz 4? If I have confused you any let me know and I'll try to clarify my problem more. Thanks in advanced Thanks in advanced /Corey
Jeff Mottle
I'm not an expert VIZ user as I too come from a Lightcape background, but I have run into this problem as well. You can pull this off by assigning a material 100% self illumination and exclude from your light sources, but you need to turn off Exposure control which of course affects the rest of your scene. I'm not sure you scenario in particular, but mine was a sky dome which I had to render out seperately and later composite back in. I was nto able to figure out a better way. Hope that helps

But my 'watercolor walkthrough' technique is 100% 'raw textures' and NO lights at all. Will Viz/MAX allow this self-illum without any lights and still raytrace for alpha channels? Cesar R
ok wow! I actually know the ans. to this !! Put a light an assign it to light (omni)only the "dome" with the texture and exclude this object form radisosity. Then go into the exposure settings and make sure that light scale , equals the intensity of your brightest light (sun?) then hit render and it works.
