ABK
Hi everyone, I am traditionally an XSI/Cinema 4D user switching to Max. I must say, all in all, the change is great but of course there's a few little things I cant find. In XSI I was used to rendering using Final gathering and in each objects material I could change the amount FG would affect an object in the render. Also, when rendering using GI in Cinema I could tag objects and set their respective GI properties. The main reason I would do this was for glass - I could tag these or turn down their FG value so that they didn't get effected by the advanced lighting too much (this gave me the desired effect). I'd love to be able to do the same in 3DS Max! Specifically, I don't want my glass objects to bounce light when using FG. HAs anyone any ideas how to alter the FG parameters for individual objects or materials? Cheers, Antony
Tommy Burns
Hi If you right click on an object you can edit its rendering properties in here. Also I think if you are using mental ray and A+D materials you can change the FG properties of the material in the material editor, not too sure of this though. Would like to see what your glass looks like when you work it out.
ABK
Cheers Tommy, I can't seem to find anything relating to FG in the object properties (only GI parameters here) but I do use Arch&Design materials and controlling the FG through there seems invaluable. I'll also try and post some glass when I have a decent sample. Cheers, antony
jasonluckett
Hi ABK, I don't know if you found your answer but goto the a&d (only) material and goto the advanced rendering options tab and look for the Indirect Illumniation Options and you should see what you are looking for. Hope this helps, Jason
