rotten42
OK....This was prompted my my co-workers that keep telling me to turn my music down. When you are rendering do you like things quiet or do you crank it up? The louder I have the music the better work flow I get into.

alrawli
Everyone in the office listens with headphones, it only gets noticed really when random people start singing badly to songs or whistling.
Koper
i just go bother co-workers while rendering. unfortunately we aren't allowed to play any tunes without headphones, and then its at a low volume, i have been thrown with a banana before for not hearing someone:mad: so you guys allowed to play tunes out loud? skala67
I listen to Stern on Sirius radio during the morning, then put in some pink floyd, some type of progressive trance, or a good loud punk band. I work at home so it can be as loud as i want.
Ray
I mostly listen to music when I'm modeling, since it's kind of mindless and boring. But when I'm tweaking materials and lighting, I'm usually too involved to get into the music. Once the renders start, the music comes back on. Most people use headphones here at work, but I'm a little isolated in my own corner of the building so I use my speakers. People have started calling my corner the Dark Side of the Moon (for obvious reasons).
Ricardo Eloy
Normally I listen to the radio (Virgin UK, mostly). Or something like Sister Hazel, Creed, Green Day, Daughtry...
alfienoakes
Creed.. What ever happened to them..? Are they still going..? I really thought they might come over here to blighty, but they never did..

lambros
slayer or sepultura would do the trick. I also grab my Les Paul, crank up the amp and play along. That's the benefit of working alone...
BrianKitts
Just get some good headphones so you can blast yourself into misery without alarming you coworkers. Personally mine are so loud that i've gotten emails from people less than ten feet away asking questions cause they know I can't hear them. How else do you listen to: A perfect Circle Army of Anyone And I second the love of APC.... I actually like the stuff Maynard does on side projects more than some of the stuff with TOOL..... don't get me wrong, still love TOOL, just not as much as APC.... And as for AoA, love em...even if it is my only solice to mourning the loss of Filter and STP. But you are right some songs just need a decible level to blow your brains out. Creed.. What ever happened to them..? Are they still going..? I really thought they might come over here to blighty, but they never did.. Horrible bands normally die out, you can only pretend to sing like eddie vedder for so long before people stop listening to you Add in the horrible performances they were giving towards the end where scott was so wasted that people actually started suing the concert venues for poor performances! Not exactly what I would call staying power to be around for long.
oligophant
hi everyone, well i think music makes the mood while im at the pc, i quit severals jobs because of that ( bad taste of music from the guy in charge)...nah just kidding....well it was just one of many reasons , generally speaking at the office i always use my usb with heavy bands in it like iron maiden, judas priest and sonata arctica or dream theather as complement, obviosly loud enough to hear my boss calls. So music relax! and make me productive current listening Dream theather - Metropolis greatings from across the sea

Didnt realise that creed went that way.. they did seem to just disappear.. I suppose I can see why now..! good comparison to Eddie Vedder as well... alrawli
Thought creed were on the Christian Rock band wagon? Some pretty interesting bands coming up! Im mostly into industrial/metal sort of stuff but recently ive been listening to a bit of darker drum and bass seems to be good when your doing repetative modelling. Enlighten
Hey Dean, if you like Pandora, you will love http://www.slacker.com. There radio stations are top class. The related artists feature is spot on most of the time, unlike Pandora which can be off every now and then.
Nic H
ahh loud music the bane of every office, we had 10 in our team and no one had similiar taste and always hated whatever everyone else played, no one could compromise so we all had headphones which was a pity as less talking tended to happen but it was good for concentrating and making sure no one would annoy you. i tended to listen to alot of hiphop/downtempo and drum n bass all of which everyone hated, bloody philistines with top 40! WAcky
yeah its wierd. I listen to diff types of music when im doing different things in max. I thinks its like Scores from Anime films, like massive orchestral stuff when im modelling, then when it comes to materials i go the the loud stuff. Dimmu, Job for a cowboy, lamb of god, etc. When i used to do some game stuff it was funny like that, i'd be listening to calm stuff when modelling, then the second photoshop opened up, the loud stuff did too. My old boss used to hate it...so much.
