Koper
so we also just got it installed, everything set up, plugins also working fine and I am just loving it.... well, except for the viewport jumping when orbeting around an object. If have tried the different 'arc rotate' modes and they all do it, one moment I am viewing from the top and the next from the bottom. anyone had this? should i change the adaptive degradation setting? Ricardo Eloy
Does it have anything to do with the angle snap being on, by any chance?
denham
What do you mean by jump. Are you referring to 3d orbit, & the entire model starts acting all "jittery" & is hard to control? If so this has plagued me for sometime, but only rarely. I've found that if I change viewports, switch to perspective--> then top---> then user, it will stop- but sometimes only temporarily. I've posted about it before, but didn't get much help. I thought it could be my video card.
Koper
nothing with the angle snap as im not rotating any objects (or it should not be the angle snap, can't imagine that it is ) the 3d orbit in perspective (mouse wheel click + alt + drag) yeah it doesn't do it all the time, maybe every 5th time or so. I'm thinking it might be the adaptive degradation as on previous versions, when orbiting around in a heavy scene, max would start to hang if the frame rate dropped and then jump to the position. but now it just jumpes without the lag
Ricardo Eloy
nothing with the angle snap as im not rotating any objects (or it should not be the angle snap, can't imagine that it is ) The angle snap also affects the arc rotate. Try using the shortcut (alt+middle button) and see if it still occurs.

I've only got 2g of ram

Mechadus
By chance have you changed any of your settings in the Customize->preferences->gizmos dialog? I had a similar problem once, and I fixed it by changing the 'rotation method' from 'Circular Crank' (whatever the heck that means) to 'linear Roll'. I dont know if that will fix the issue you are having or not, but I hope it helps. -Nick
