Spooner04
I have remote desktop set up from my house to my work machine. When I remote in I can see all of the apps, and I can see all of the toolbars and the gui in max. I can't see any of the viewports. It only shows what is on the desktop behind the viewports. Anyone have any idea on why this might be?
BrianKitts
when you boot max under remote desktop, use the switch graphics mode load option, and switch to your graphics mode to software.

Tommy Burns
Hi all Am I right in thinkin that what you are talking about here is using a work machine from your home pc? If answer is yes how do you go about setting that up?
Devin Johnston
You need to switch your Max video drive from Direct X to Open GL and then close and reopen the program. This happens to me all of the time and it's because remote desktop won't work with Direct X for what ever reason.
BrianKitts
Hi all Am I right in thinkin that what you are talking about here is using a work machine from your home pc? If answer is yes how do you go about setting that up? Right click on "my computer" and click on "properties" under the remote tab you would enable remote desktop to allow users to connect remotely to your computer. Once this is enabled you can access your system from other computers on the network using the built in remote desktop feature start > all programs > accessories > remote desktop connection then simply use your login/pass to access the system To do this from home you would have to have a VPN connection established between your office and home computer, once the VPN is connected then you can use remote desktop from home as well. Beats the heck out driving to the office late at night, and allows you to check the progress of your renderings instead of crossing your fingers and losing sleep hoping you won't have to tell your boss/client in the morning "sorry I got nothing for ya"
