Chad Warner
Hi all! I am trying to get a coursing pattern like this image, using either the brick procedural or any other method that will work. I can do it with a bitmap, but I would prefer using a procedural map. I have played with the custom brick pattern, but can't get it to do what I would like. Thanks, Chad
Aaron
Chad, I have two suggestions. 1. You can split the geometry in the areas that have different coursings and create two seperate procedural maps. The best way to do this is to use the Slice Modifier so you can control the height that you are doing the slice. If you use slice on the Edit Mesh modfier, you cannot be precise. 2. Create your own texture map and apply it to the geometry with the UVW Map (box) modifier. Hope this helps Aaron
mbr
I'd suggest the slicing, or creating separate geometries to begin with. You can create custom brick images for mapping at www.acmebrick.com. They are pretty his res, easily good for detailed closeups. It's a program you install (free) that lets you generate patterns and colors as you want. It's pretty slick. Chad Warner
I guess I will have to try the slice method or something similar. I have downloaded the acme brick program, and I agree--It is a slick program that I use all the time. I should have mentioned that this is cast stone blocks though, not brick work. Thanks for the suggestions. -Chad

Chad Warner
Delfoz- That's pretty close, can you tell/show me how you did it? Thanks, Chad
tcorbett
Chad - The image you gave can be acheived by using the "Brick" procedural map. When you go into the settings for this, select the "Running Bond" style. Under the "Advanced Controls" you can set the number of vertical rows to a decimal instead of an integer. Based on the image that you showed, setting the vertical count to 3.5 should give you the look you want, although you might want to play with the mortar settings a bit. Good Luck! Tom... Chad Warner
Thats exactly the look I was going for...I knew there had to be a way to do it. Thanks a bunch!! I will post my progress as soon as I get somewhere with it. -Chad
