chow choppe Posted January 15, 2008 Share Posted January 15, 2008 Hi all Please help me overclock my new system My configuration is Q6600 2.4ghz gostepping code SLACR 4X 1GB transcend memory 800mhz DDR2 ABIT IP35 E motherboard coolermaster CM690 cabinet and 600W smps from coller master ATI radeon HD3870 Graphics card 512mb DDR4 i also have thermalright ultra extreme with a scythe sflex 12mm fan for cooling I have no idea how to overclock a system and my vendor also cannot help me much with this. what to overclock and how to overclock.Please help me overclock this and increase its performance. i just know overclocking increases performance but no idea how to do it. Craig Ramsay Posted January 15, 2008 Share Posted January 15, 2008 I think you just increase the clock speed in the computers bios settings. So if you're Quad 6600 is running at 2.4Ghz then you should be able to speed it up to 3.0Ghz. Watch out though, overclocking can cause your computer to overheat if you don't have good sufficient cooling and can also make your machine unstable. AJLynn Posted January 15, 2008 Share Posted January 15, 2008 I don't know that particular motherboard but usually you have to go to BIOS, change the right setting to "manual" then change the speed of the front side bus or RAM. It defaults to 266 and is multiplied by 9 to get the CPU speed. (You can't change the 9.) Increase it by a bit at a time, and when you get to 333 you'll be running at 3GHz. Check the CPU temp under load at each step. You might need to increase the CPU voltage but don't go above the number on the CPU box. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
