jophus14
I have attached an image of a project that I am working on and I need to apply a stainless steel material to the lighter colored objects in the image. I want the steel to be slightly different so it doesn't seem so repetative throughout the entire building. The plates will be butt-jointed with a small seam between them. My question is, how can I create the plates with a variance between them without creating thousands of individual plates and using a MultiSubObject? I was thinking of creating a box or some other type of geometry and then creating lines to use as the butt-joint for the plates. Is there anything within the Vray Material Options that I could use to my benefit? Any suggestions would help. Thanks.
Thablanch
You could do this using a tile procedural map in the shader... You do have the color variance toggle, so a simple map can give you some nice little variations. Works fine in the HGlossiness/RGlossiness slot as well, for slight variation of finish in bwtween a new and an old panel...
