Arnold Grove
Hi all, A simple problem Im sure. Im creating a sofit on a drop ceiling. A simple shape...a reqtangle with 4 width cross pieces and 2 lenth pieces. I joined them together with a boolean so it would be one piece. When i render w/ GI (vray) the I have a black hole..missing ploys where they intersected. I expected that before i booleaned because of ploys crashing into each other but Im still missing polys. I first tried with a splne shape extruded. Then I made boxes and criss crossed them..and then booleaned...still missing polys. I tried a quicke render w/ one omni..all fine..but as soon as i turned on GI and my IES lights Im missing polys. Weird. Perhaps my method of modelign the sofits is wrong. But the end result is the missing polys. Any ideas? Thanks very much
Ricardo Eloy
Kind of hard to tell without seeing a picture, but my guess is that, even though you "booleaned" them, there are still overlapping faces. Take a look at that (and do yourself a favor and avoid booleans as much as you can ).
Arnold Grove
Thank you Rick. This brings me to another question. What's the best way to do drop ceilings/sofits?
