MARLIN studio trees

We just purchased the Marlin Studio deciduous tree package.

How can I incorporate these models in viz? I can't seem to import them, and when I merge two scenes, all the maps for the trees get "lost" somewhere.

Has anyone used the Marlin Studio tree package with VIZ?

When I open the file on its own, it renders very nicely.

Maybe I'm not understanding how to bring in other models in to my model?

I thought it would be as simple as importing the tree into the scene and it would render properly...

The trees on their own are beautiful and they're low poly, so very easy to handle.

What would be the best way to "bring one in" my model? I can't import them since they're .max files, and when I merge any two scenes it throws off my lighting (extreme).

Also, when I merge two scenes, I seem to lose one of the material palletes. For example, if I start with the tree scene, and merge it with my building scene, the materials only show the tree materials.

There must be a better way to bring in a model? Can I make the tree along with its maps an "object"?

Thanks,

I can merge the trees in, but they don't render their maps (they came out black).

The problem is that once I merge, in my material pallette, I only see the one from the building model. The "tree" materials don't show in the material browser. It's as if it won't merge the materials, only the objects.

Is there a more "intuitive" way of doing this or is that word not applicable to VIZ (see other postings concerning daylight)?

Are there any model objects that we could purchase that can EASILY be used in VIZ? WITHOUT throwing off entire scenes and lighting and materials?
