WAcky
Hi all, I've been given a bit of an art test by a company to determine my level of skill and which jobs they will give me (volume or high-end) and the building they have given me is quite a challenge. With a previous job they gave me it was a pretty simple two storey house. No guess work or anything. I chose to use the AEC walls in max due to the simplicity of the building, and they worked fine aside from a couple of errors when displacement was applied. The new building is rather a challenge with different ground heights, and two levels that join at different heights around the house. I have modelled the house with the AEC walls tool but it's looking to become quite a headache so I'm looking at starting again using the loft/sweep/edit poly methods. I've read some of the tutorials on this site and I'm not sure which method is best. Basically my question is, what methods do you guys thing are best. The AEC walls seems to just introduce problems and so forth. Does anyone use AEC walls? AEC windows? Or AEC doors? IF not, what method do you use and for what reasons? Thanks alot guys. denham
AEC walls suck. Use sweeps.
nelpiper
Hi there. In my opinion, the best way is by using splines, lofts an sweeps. I used AEC only once as walls and it messed up my UVs. I think your best choice is through splines and then work your way around it with modifiers (extrude for example). Have a try and see what comes up. If you have time for it, ARCHICD I and II from 3dquakers are very good sources. I hope it helps. Good luck. http://3dquakers1.com/webroot5/review.php?id=
