Matt Zanetti
Hi there I'm a fourth year inteior archietcture student writing my dissertation on visualisation. i have prepared five questions for my case studies but wanted to post them in order to gain a bit more information. i would really appreciate it if anyone would be to help me. thank you. How has the professionalisation of visualisation affected architecture? Have the advances in visualisation professions had any direct influence on the design of spaces? Have architecture’s most recent architectural tools had a direct influence on the value of the concept stage of a project? Has the increased importance placed on visualisations in higher education created more interest in visualisations as an occupation? How do you think visualisations will develop in the future? AJLynn
Could you say a bit more on how you're approaching this and what you're citing in your theoretical background?

Peter M. Gruhn
I don't understand your intent. Are these questions that you are asking so you can build some kind of industry concensus which your part of the job is to analyze, break down and make pie charts? Are these questions which you propose answering through your research? If this, then you may be looking at too many too broad questions. None of the above? Horhe
Ok ill have a go. From the top of my head: How has the professionalisation of visualisation affected architecture?Well, is opened up new job opportunities, such as the CG artist. Which consequently led to a narrower span of duties for the architect. Its almost impossible to combine creating concepts, projects and producing high quality images. In both areas one needs to have the knowledge and research constantly what each day brings; the technology, news, updates and so forth. Both of these proffesions are really time consuming. Have the advances in visualisation professions had any direct influence on the design of spaces? For some more for others less. It definately produced a somewhat realistic way of foreseeing daylight, which penetrates into those spacious areas. It also helped to predict how responsive materials are to lightsources and the interactivity that develops between them. Have architecture’s most recent architectural tools had a direct influence on the value of the concept stage of a project?Again for some architects it did for others not so much. Some architects prefer to produce and evolve their concepts in 3d, while others still stick to 2d sketches, 2d plans and elevations, then pass them on to cg artists to see the final product (and maybe make changes). Most architects have the sense of 3d and can tell what their concept will look like. Im NOT saying that if an architect uses 3d he does not have such an ability. Has the increased importance placed on visualisations in higher education created more interest in visualisations as an occupation?Probably. It increased awarness among students and stressed the importance of vizualisation itself as a craft, which is still not appreciated by some people all over the world. How do you think visualisations will develop in the future?Well, in my opinion vizualisation will evolve and move onto virtual reality tours and interactive animations. The 2d images will become obsolete as technology will proceed onto animatable newspapers and magazines (this is already becoming reality as we speak). Hope that helps a bit.
