CHE
........I totally agree with Delfoz. It seems like you are looking for an easy and fast answer. I mean, you have your own business and you are making money out of it. That's fine but please do not ask people to "do" your work or to tell you what to do, step by step, because this won't help you at all, you would be using other people's tecniques. You should post your WIPs, ask for comments, check the tips and tricks section, etc.... Regards.
Cesar R
Maybe I worded my post incorrectly, and I do apologize if I gave anyone the wrong impression. I was not asking for my work to be done for me, but for some knowledge that would help me. Let me begin by saying that it is very easy to light scenes with Brazil, but I do have a great deal of a hard time in VIZ or MAX. I just wanted some pointers that would help me achieve a similar look. Why? Because I am looking for a renderer that fits me and what I do when it comes to architectural viz. My idea of this forum was a place to share knowledge and tips (although no one seems to care about what I say), not a place to have my reputation blown out and be marked as an incompetent opportunistic individual. “the whole point of a forum is communication and support for each other as a team, not to bash each other down when they need some help...” It is unfortunate to learn that professionals such as Architect Portillo “Delfoz” seem to think of this forum as a battle ground to belittle people. Having moderate skills doesn’t give anyone the rights to do such. Thanks to his comments, my reputation is not very positive as I can see some of you friends have voted against my rating in this forum. I appreciate that very much. It seems some people enjoy ruining reputations by unprofessional jab comment. Mr. Portillo, It is the reason that I will like to meet the expectations that I’ve set for my self as a freelancer that I am in this forum requesting help. I do not intend to use your setting for a final product, but my plan is to learn from others, the same I am sure you have and that everyone else has, in order to produce great work like yours. As far as the text you quoted from my site is concern, no where does it say that I can not request help, other wise what are you doing in this forum. I have read your site and you advertise similar to mine, unless you are on this forum to talk down to people who are trying to be successful. Thank you for your time . Sincerely, Cesar R. I simply see him asking for suggestions on the best way to light his model in 2 particular programs. I've asked several times for help with models I'm working on for $$$. I hope no one will ever take the attitude with me that was shown to Cesar! I can assure you I won't be as diplomatic in my response (defense/retaliation) as Cesar and Jeff were! Let's show professional courtesy and respect that we ALL deserve, and leave our egos at home! CHE
This forum is a place to learn and we should keep it this way. I'm new in this industry too. I have being help before and I still receive help from other artist and friends. However I focus my learning mostly on reading and experimenting because I would like to develop a unique style. Like Jeff said there was a miscommunication and we should drop this and move on. After all we are all here to help and be helped. I apologize for my promptly reply. Jeff Mottle
Guys, what is going on here?!! Since when is it a bad thing to ask for help? I have been doing renderings for nearly 8 years now and I still have much to learn. I rely upon the help from my friends in this industry (many of who are "competition") and on this forum to help whenever I have a question, and people have always been willing to help. And yes these questions have been for jobs that have made me money. There are two ways to look at things and I will quote the guys at Neoscape on this one. You can either operate in a "black box" and look at everyone as your competition and be secretive of everything you do, or you can work openly and share your knowledge and be friends with everyone and give each other a helping hand when people ask. Now I'm not saying that you need to give away you trade secrets or do people's work for them, but ask yourself this. What is the point of this forum or even this site if it is not to share tips and help each other out? I think there may have been a miscomunication here and that can happen on places like forums where intonation can not be as carefully noted as when we speak out loud. Regardless lets drop this and move on. If you are not intersted in sharing that's fine, but it is senseless to argue over it. For those that choose not to operate in the "black box" I commend you and enourage you to continue doing so. This site and the growth of this industry depends upon it. For those who do not wish to contribute, look back to when you were not as informed as you are now....how did you get here? My guess is that you did not just wake up one morning and have all the knowledge to be a CG artist. You had to learn from somewhere...didn't you? We are all adults here, let's start acting like them and be civil to one another. We are friends who all share the same passion for this industry we call architecural CG.... Happy Holidays to everyone. Jeff
Cesar R
hey Delfoz, I sorry I never got around to respond. Im not mad, thank you for your offer.. matt_vinoir
its all about the karma! jumping on this thread very late but its very interesting. I am willing to share and help and very willing to be helped because you are not competion to me as i'm still a student and want to be an architect. However, when it becomes your livelihood, you tend to get emotional.understandable i suppose! A few settings here and there that are shared isn't going to provide all the answers. At the end of the day, a sucessful render relys a great deal on really good modelling, this isn't something you are going to steal through settings. The only thing that is suspect is the textures because they are often not free to share. Lets all be friends here! ( except kid though obviously, he smells of wee)
