BrianKitts
Can anyone recommend a program for file synchronization? I'm traveling alot between our offices these days, and I carry a 120BG external HD to host my library and project files while I'm on the road. I'm looking for software that would aid me in synchronizing the files on the external HD and the server at home. Currently I just manually upload my project files back to the server when I return home, I'm looking for something to automate the process. I've found a couple of solutions, but was wondering if anyone has any experience or could make a product recommendation. Thanks - brian
Trick
Beyond Compare from Scooter Software; using it for years and no trouble at all.
jackb602
I'm guessing you're on a PC. But if any Mac users need good synchronization software, I highly recommend Chronosync. I use it daily to sync my laptop and desktop, and it has been working flawlessly for the past six months. It is also a very capable backup solution. BrianKitts
cool... thanks for the suggestions. Yes I'm on a mac, but I need a backup system for my windows partition on the mac. I've been leaning towards this product..... http://www.superflexible.com/index.htm most of these I'm finding have 30 day trials so I'll try a few out and I'll probably post when I find the one I like. Jeff Mottle
I've been using SyncBackSE for about 2 years. Works perfectly. I use it for all of my backups and syncs. It's incredibly flexible. I don't think there is much it can't do: http://www.2brightsparks.com/syncback/syncback-hub.html
Brian Cassil
I'm also looking for a solution like this. Thanks for the tips guys.
jackb602
To follow up, the only important feature missing from Chronosync is bootable backups. This is promised in the new version, due out early this year. For this reason, I use Data Backup for backing up on OS X.
3dsmaxrenderfarm
have you ever looked into foldershare, it works great syncing files in live in the background with my home computer.
