jorisAR
Is there a way to convert a Vray Physical Camera into a standard camera or the other way around? The problem is: I want to render the same scene and same views with scanline first, then Mental Ray and then with Vray and this includes Vray sun, so I need to use the Vray Physical Camera. This to show the difference between different methods of lighting. So I start of with a standard camera for scanline and MR and then this camera must be a Physical one..... Stephen Thomas
You can use a standard cam and bring the multiplier of the vray sun down to 0.01.
kippu
or just remove the "exposure " in the vray camera rollout and it will be a standard camera

jorisAR
I thought it was necessary to use vray camera with vray sun...if not I have some problems with the background and the refraction of the background through glass. But thanks for the tip about the exposure, didn't know that. greetz

Eric Sosa
you dont need to use a physical camera in vray. i never do. yep, u don't need it, but it's simply smarter facts: - vray physical camera works with ot withouth vray sun - vray physical camera works as a default cam if you switch off the exposure, although still you can use other smart funcions then the standard do not have. for you, to use exactly the same position of the 2 cams; physical & standard, create first the physical cam with target and save it, then, in viewport change the view to "perspective" and then simply create a standard cam using the "create cam from view"..and that's it. btw, when using vray physicalcamera with exposure it works just as any profesional cam and you can adjust the shooter speed, ISO, guess vertical shift, soom factor, etc. & it works GREAT in combination with vray colour mapping for an extraordinary variarity of luminated shots....you should try. STRAT
....you should try. yeah, i appreciate all that, i just end up switching off the phys cam and changing my lighting manually. its just my work flow that works for me i personally prefer to change my exposures/scene lighting using my lighting rig rather than tweaking my camera settings.
