ABK
Hi everyone, I'm rendering an interior scene in 3DS max and want to be able to render an ambient occlusion pass. My scene has a lot of alpha channels so when I use the 'override materials' option to create an ambient occlusion pass my objects with an alpha channel map lose their transparencies. Does anybody know of a way to create an ambient occlusion pass that will take alpha channels into account? Cheers, Antony
notamondayfan
yea dont use the material override, instead apply the ambient occ material directly to the objects, and change the settings you desire on a per object basis.
johnvid
Are you using the ambient occlusion script, which replaces the material for you, or doing it manually in the overide? I have the same problem, mainly with leaves on plants, the only thing i have seen that may solve the problem is a script on scriptspot.com called render mask 4.1 . I havent used it or figured the workflow yet, but assume i will need to render my ivy in one pass, render the mask, and then comp it together with the other passes... Anyone else have better solution would love to hear it, perhaps the other way is do the AOC in mental ray.
