The Trickster
Hi Guys, Just wanted to gather opinion on this subject. What are you guys using for GI? I thought the standards were that for exteriors you would use IM with QMC and for interiors IM with light cache. However, I was working with a freelancer a couple of weeks ago who used the opposite, i.e light cache for exteriors? Is there any golden rule or is it just what suits??? ARTECmedia
hi no golden rules. It is possible to be other way. Sometimes we user QMC+LightCash. But in most cases your way is ok. Well tested and somehow fast.
STRAT
in c4d vray it's a 'general' rule for - exteriors - IM + QMC (or no secondary bounces even!) interiors - IM + LC but, no rules
Ricardo Eloy
No rules at all. You could even use only IM+LC, if you like. The thing is all methods have their weaknesses and strenghts. And which one depends only on the scene, not on ext. vs int.
The Trickster
Cheers chaps, i guess its just what ever works! If there is one thing ive found it is that (IMO) LC can bring out more detai. Cheers for your input:D
nelpiper
As Rick said, there advantages and disadvanteages in all methods. For instance, if time is not an issue you can use QMC for both first and secondary bounces. Each situations have lots of combinations that give you the same result at different cost (usually time).
