jccloutier
Max 9 vray 1.5 interior walkthrough What would cause (allow) vray to calculate 4 pre-passes when I have the GI off entirely? This is pure madness!!! MADNESS!!!!!!!
Crazy Homeless Guy
i know there are a few things that vray still needs to calculate prepasses for even if GI is truend off. the only one i can remember off hand though is interpolated reflections. Sawyer
If you have interpolation turned on for any material you will get a prepass.
jccloutier
Thanks guys. I used 'override mtl" with a blank vraymtl with no interpolation and it's still prepassing. this is wierdness.
jccloutier
The vray status window says there is a raytraced material warning which may be causing this. how can i search the max file for this material quickly?
BrianKitts
Open your material editor, select the "get material" button, and switch the dialog box to "scene" so that you get a full list of all the materials in your scene. Look for the materials that aren't a vray material. Specifically if you have an "architectural" material.... that will probably be the culprit. Second would be to check any standard materials. Unfortunately it's buried in the reflection maps of a material so it's not too fun
