Kyle
When I setup my distributed rendering with the server I.P addresses in V-Ray, everything seemed to work O.K, only now I am getting messages in the v-ray log saying it has initially found the machines only to go on further down the log and say the host is unknown and is not responding. I've tried nearly everything and I'm up and down to the server room like an anthlete training for the olympics....does anyone have any clues as to why this problem is occurring? At the moment I can only use 2 of the 5 machines that are assigned to me:(
Thablanch
Firewall? Network permissions for shared ( ressources/maps ) drive? Not pointing to the license server correctly? Install on Max or Viz, (if on Viz, you may need the appropriate .ini file) Vray Spawner was installed/is running with administrative privileges? Hope it helps.. Kyle
This problem was solved by wiping V-Ray off the servers and giving it a full clean install. Time consuming but seems to have been effective. V-Ray from what I have experienced in DR seems to be quite temperamental. Thanks for all your help. BrianKitts
...from what I have experienced in DR seems to be quite temperamental. unfortunately you're right.... and it has been for a long time, but it's slowly getting better. But once you get it working it's a beautiful thing and worth the headaches.
Strob
I just got same kind of problem and that was due to 3d connexion drivers. I had to rename those 2 files by adding .bak at the end to prevent them to load. on the render nodes: C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2010\Scripts\Startup\3DxStudio.ms C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2010\stdplugs\3dxstd.dlu
