taureans_rulz
hi people.. my topic for dissertation is meditation in architecture... If meditation is interpreted as contemplation and the seeking of emotional quietude, the study of architecture should feature some attention to spaces that can be hoped to promote meditation, and as meditation is sometimes part of the architect's own creative process. In the post-World War II era, the profession has been increasingly called upon to contribute to planning in buildings which comply with often highly conceptualized designs towards thematic transformations of whole areas ny views on the above mentioned topic is most welcomed... thank u... ramneet.. EddieLeon
I would study traditional Japanese architecture & gardens and the modern masters that were heavily influenced by it. I think Luis Barragan is a perfect example. His protege, Ricardo Legorreta was very good too, but mostly his early works. http://www.pritzkerprize.com/barragan/barraganpg.htm http://www.legorretalegorreta.com

Sawyer
I worked on a house that had a meditation room. It was a small domed room that only had 2 "windows". They were really little openings at the top of the dome that were supposed to allow full sun into the space only during the solstices. I think there was a rock pit as well for sweat lodge type activities. I don't think it was ever built I don't know if they ever figured out how to calc the sun angles for the openings. Brian Cassil
One of our intern's masters thesis was a meditation center. It was a place where people went specifically for meditation. It had separate chambers for people to be secluded as well as areas for group meditation. Some spaces were indoors other were outdoors, etc. It was an interesting idea I thought. poppyy08
I had read about a place (ashram) where meditating rooms are built in triangular shape. Reason behind is, in such pyramid shaped room one can be able to grasp positive energy.
