hi all

Please help me out with this

We got a new lead for making a walkthrough of a golf course. We have never done any golf course proejct. they basically want flyover from around 25' height hole by hole maybe saved as different animations for different holes. so say a 20sec animation for each hole. my question is how to go about this

they will provide us with CAD drawings of the course. I am not too good with modelling terrains accurately. the samples they showed as just had greens. with color variations in spline shapes showing different types of grass colors and some areas had sand and a water stream also. Do i model all these? or shud we use uvw mapping using bump maps/ displacement maps.

Whats the method to do both the things. like how to do organic shapes, terrains or how to make a golf course using uvwmap

This is start of questions will keep asking more when they come to my mind

Thanks

If I were you: I would go with a nurbs topographical model, the whole complete model, good thing about this is the ability to adjust heights and chance stuff around. Also its much more faster to work on screen. Have a camera fly through, again complete, for now the trees i would only have piramids grouped roughly where they should go. with this, you can then have an approval presented in a preview mode. take panoramic pictures of the foreground and stich them to have a coherent background. Either have a dome matching this or a Hdri, both with background matching set up.

Then you can divide the model into different scenes, and have your trees render referenced to an external object, you can give onyx a try. As for the golf course, you can try to get some pictures of the raft, greens, bunkers, sand traps, etc.

Hope it helps. Keep posting advance on this.
