inaya
I've been a happy lightscape user for the past 7 years but I think it's time to look for an alternative rendering program before my office switches to vista (I heard LS doesn't work with vista). Any recommendations on a rendering program which would give you similar results? I saw examples of Maxwell and they looked great, is it the new lightscape? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
lyca
I never used LS but if you are looking for a good render engine for archtecture, there several good ones. Maxuell, brazil, finalRender or the most popular at this moment "vray" witch is the one i use. All those engine are high end renderer with global illumination. But vray seems to be the best choice in termes of time/quality ratio, so it also depends on the kind of work you do and the time you have to do them
TheAllusionisst
One could argue that MentalRay which is included with Max, Maya and XSI is as good as any of them. If you are getting Max or Viz persay, I would just give it a try, currently it is one of my favorite rendering engines and it doesn't cost you anything extra if you get a program that has it included. FWIW

Craig Ramsay
Remember Viz and Max have a radiosity engine built in that is very similar to Lightscape. If you're looking to get up and running ASAP then that would probably be the easiest solution.
oluv
lightscape is just so much cooler than max radiosity. it is as if i was playing some commodore C64 or amiga games much more fun than actual pc-games!
Peter M. Gruhn
I've been telling people since the day Max first shipped radiosity "no, that isn't Lightscape in there." Glad to see I'm not alone in the world.
Horhe
Well Im happy to anounce that the next lightscape is...................................................... (drum roll)....................... .............................................................................................. .............................. simply the lighting solution that you will want to explore, dig in deep untill your satisfied with the results. Surely every solution can produce great images. Its up to you to crank them up and set them up as you like. If you can achieve this and your quite happy - then thats your new lightscape.
