malevy
Hi you need to partition at the time you install windows xp not after. you cannot change c: after windows is installed and it has been made the primary boot drive. during winxp install delete all partitions and then at the same time create 2x40gb partitions. you will have to format the second one after windows finishes Hi all i have an old Hp pavillion DV500 series and i just formatted this using recovery drive. default it has one C drive and one recovery drive. i want to make a partition out of my c drive . if i go to my computer >>>manage i get the following where most of the options are greyed out how can i create partition from this. AJLynn
Have you ever tried Partition Magic? It's a Symantec program I think.
shaneis
You won't be able to partition your HDD with a HP Recovery disc/ drive. It will only restore your system to the factory install. As Andrew pointed out, you'll need a partitioning application that you can boot from CD. Partition Magic is a commercial app, if you don't want to spend the money, try this one... http://partitionlogic.org.uk/ Of course, read all the manuals/ guides and backup your data before you do anything to your HDD. You can also burn a recovery disc to DVD on a HP, then you'll be able to use the extra 8GB for your own data. All the best, S.
