Vista and Nvidia problem with Viz

Just got a couple of new machines, with Vista home premium.

Loaded on Viz 2007 and all starts fine, no worries. Once Viz starts up, I get a couple of sort of flashes as the screen settles in. If I then switch from single viewport to multiple viewport, the screen doesnt change. It sort of flashes to white where the viewports are. You then have to zoom extents all to get the viewports back.

Also, if you have anything on the screen, say a simple box, as you pan and move around, the background behind teh object goes white and flickers, and the object is surrounded by a squre showing how the viewport should look..?

I have an 8800GT card, and a new Quad core machine..?? Sort of stumped by this, as I have downloaded the latest Nvidia drivers, updated Vista and loaded on Service pack 1 for Viz...

Also, been using the Direct 3D for display inside Viz..

Any experience / help / suggestions as Im not sure what to do with it at the mo....

lo...just bought a new PC on saturday and had teh same problem with MAX.

Its and issue with vid drivers, try using SOFTWARE instead of OpenGL or Heidi.

FOr me it worked, however I still had an error message, so I went to the autodesk site and they have a service patch that fixed it, and still can use openGL.

Again this was with MAX, not VIZ, but must be the same thing.

Incase any one else has the same display problem, disabling the Windows Aero desktop, back to plain old standard, solved the issue..

but I paid for my superduper PC with superduper VIsta, so I wanna see the cool aero stuff.

lol

I just installed the autodesk patch for Vista and Max and it soved my problem, so I can still use aero.

The problem I had, is that when opening MAX i got an error pop up window, apparently I could work (never tried it tho) because the program kept open and could move aorund the mouse and stuff, but all my viewports where white, couldnt see anything there.

So I first tried the vid card driver stuff, and that fixed the viewport problem, but I still had the error pop up.

So looked at the autodesk website, found a patch for Vista, installed it, and that was it...no problem at all so far.

Cheers Salf,

Will check it out..

Yeah, the thing with Vista and all the new bits, is they want it to look great and do crazy things, but if you want that power for something other than floaty toolbars etc its a pain... Plus I have had to spend an evening getting my Viz sorted out..
