pradipta
I am working on a pretty big scene with hundreds of vray proxys for trees. While rendering LC max is giving bitmap loading error and halting the process with a pointer to a 60mb texture file. although there were plenty of phy and virtual memory at that time. max was using 1.4-1.6gb of 2gb ram and around same amount of virtual memory. i learnt that max crashes after using 1.6 gb out of 2 gb ram on a 32 bit system. so, is it possible to allocate less RAM for the render and more of virtual memory. It will increase render time but i have not much time constraint to make the renders. so, i can have it slow but it should happen. would be looking for some solution, thanks
Fran
Hi Pradipta, You could try changing Default geometry to Dynamic in the V-Ray System rollout under Raycaster params. Also, see if using the standard Max frame buffer rather than the VFB will work. I've had a stop dead situation with the "Error creating bitmap" that was resolved by switching to the Max FB. Another thing, that may or may not help is to disable "Show calcs" in the LC rollout. Also, if it's not necessary, render directly to a file and forego the frame buffer. pradipta
Thanks Fran, I will try with the Dynamic Memory settings, last time I did it took much more time to render the file so I was searching if any other way is there to solve the situation. I am using 3dsmax FB, may be I should see if VFB works better. I will post here.
RodT
you can get your performace tuned a bit by adjusting you dynamic memory up and down to match your needs, try the auto setting as well
Zdravko Barisic
I agree with Fran, but with one note more... DO NOT USE LC FOR EXTERIORS IF YU HAVE ANY VRAY DISPLACEMENT OR PROXIES! Try with QMC or without sec bounces at all, they are not needed too much at all in extriors scene, specially big ones where yu do not have too much darken details etc... So, again AVOID USING LC IN EXTERIORS (with Displace+Proxies), that will save you from a lot of Vray crashes! Good luck!
Ricardo Eloy
Weird... have always used LC with proxies and lots of displacement and never had a problem.
pradipta
I have another question, does max loads all the proxy into the memory while calculating LC or rendering even though some proxys are hidden for the same view?
mu_688687
Hey guys I'm suffering the same problem using lots of proxies and displacement map. How to increse the dynamic memory as its not taking more that 3000 MB I'm using a system with 2 xeon quard core processor + 24 GB Ram + 350 HD + 1GB Graphic card. so I'v lots of memory which is not using so I need max should use my maximum memory other wise Y the hell we increse our Ram. Kindly pls spend some time and reply I leterally hanging over and I'v to submit the views to client on monday. []
