would it do any good To have our own in-house development 'request' forum?

something like This Texture might be quite usefull To a LOT of other people, Too

just an idle random Thought

maybe we could share our 'collective' brain power and make something

(i got half-a-mind To second This motion)

  • 3 weeks later...

I had a little time this morning to make some textures for this and I thought I would share it since I have not yet seen anything very good available. I ended going to arriscraft.com to get a few screen grabs of their block colors. Then I sized them all the same and did some organizing and lining up in photoshop with about 15 different blocks, and created a grout.

It's still not perfect, but I'm happy enough with it.

For MAX/Vray users I'll explain my proccess, and others can just steel the maps for your own use. I'll host the actual maps so you can have some decent resolution (posted in the following post). I still downsized them quite a bit to share them.

2 maps were used:

1- Diffuse

1- Displace

I loaded the first image (the colored image) into the diffuse slot and adjusted the output levels slightly to get my desired color.

I then copied that map to the bump slot and gave it a bump value of like 25 just to get a little deffinition.

Then I loaded the displacement map (the greyscaled map) into the Vray Displacement modifier texmap with 3d mapping and a displacement amount of 0'1.5" and a shift of -0'1.5" and left everything else at default.

Attached is the result, again not perfect, but I'm satisfied enough.
