Cintiq is not overkill: it's the most useful hardware to have in post-production work. A simple tablet is good, I have one at home for personal work, but when you try a Cintiq, you'll never see your tablet as before.

It's the most intuitive tool to use with photoshop or others post-prod work

can you explain Louis? you say it's useful and intuative, but i can't see how it isn't just a tablet with the screen shown on it? i dont want to spend my day looking down at my desk, and i have hand-eye co-ordination to move the cursor on a normal wacom. frankly i just dont think the cost is justified.

would love to hear what you consider to be the advantages and why they are more intuative?

You haven't even begun to use Photoshop until you've used it with a graphics tablet. I recommend the Intuos 3's; good build, reliable, good pressure sensitivity. I have two; a big one for my desk and a smaller one for working on site.

One thing to avoid...don't put your DV camera on top of one. the camera really doesn't like it.

I just prefer the cintiq. It more intuitive because it's like painting directly on the paper. I don't said tablet are not good, just that I prefer it.

yes, it's 'just' a table with a screen, 100% agreed.

I just wanted to say that I love it, don't force you to buy one.
