chow choppe
hi all i am stuck with something see attached image i am trying to model a facia of a covered verandah which has arches in elevation and a band /cornice runsa along the bottom profile of the facia I have no idea how this can be modelled in AUTOCAD Thanks
Ricardo Eloy
You can create the object in plan view extruding it, then creating a solid of the arc, copy/rotate it, and use boolean to subtract from the first solid.
chow choppe
what about the additional band that is running along the bottom like a cornice
Ricardo Eloy
I'd do 2 separate objects, one for the arc and another for the band (the same way as the arc).
ipxstudios
trace over the elevation with splines, extrude and slice vertically using the sub object mode - you have to provide enough segments to create a curved surface (or you can just subdivide the whole thing). Then use the bend command to get the radius you want.
chow choppe
looks easy while reading but not easy while actually modelling please help graphically
Claudio Branch
please help graphically Alright... have you considered modeling the form in Max and then exporting it to an AutoCAD file? I just did a quick generic model of your form using splines with high vertice counts and a Bend modifier. I exported it as a .dwg file...

Claudio Branch
He needs it in AutoCAD... Yes, I believe I noticed that when I mentioned "exporting the file back into AutoCAD" in my response to the post.
Ricardo Eloy
I know you noticed, but I think Julian didn't.
