semih_kelleci
Hi I have a big city scene with a 350mb file size. My system is Intel Dual Core 2.2ghz processor, 4gb ram, 8600gt vga and vista 32bit operation system. And 3dS Max 9 with SP2. Task manager shows file uses 1.5-1.7gb of ram when the file is opened. I am using one skylight in the scene and lightracer as the renderer. When I tried to render an animation (only camera is moving) it first gives the error: “Failed to allocate filter tables for this bitmap. not enough memory this bitmap may render incorrectly. subsequent errors will not be reportaed.” And after clicking “okay” it goes on rendering until the second error which says: “There isn´t enough memory for the raytracer to build it´s acceleration data structures. The render is being aborted.” And finishes the render. Now what should I do to solve the problem?
Ricardo Eloy
2 things: - you are probably using very high-res bitmaps in your scene. Try using smaller bitmaps. - Lighttracer is one the most memory-consuming functions of max. I found creating a complex scene using it is something that simply doesn't work. Since it's an exterior and you don't seem to use a third party renderer, My advice is to use fakeosity instead of Max's GI.
Eric Sosa
2 things: 3 thing: make the file into smaller pieces! about 50mb per piece....and then render! edit: make "proxis"...if you have more than 2 copies of one element 350mb file is almost perverse
nelpiper
Eric has got a very good point. Why render parts of your scene that are not visible to the camera at that point? Try to isolate your scene according to your camera path. It will save you lots of hours and headache. Good luck.
