Billabong
I am having to create a marsh, kind of like what are on inland coastal waterways(image). I created a plane and added a noise modifier to it, that way only certains parts of the plane would stick up above the water, what I can't figure out is how to only apply the hair and fur modifier to just these parts. Is there a tutorial somewhere that might cover something like this. Thanks for any help
Ricardo Eloy
Not in front of it right now, but I am almost sure there is an option to have it applied by material ID or selected faces...

BrianKitts
Quick and easy way would be to just add an edit mesh mod onto your stack, and do a select by polygon, then just marquee select all the faces below the water and delete them. I wouldn't use edit mesh... I've found Editable Poly works better... anyway, you could just detach the faces you want to use the grass with and apply it only to them, as Brian said. No need to delete anything, though (I believe you want those underwater faces, don't you?)
