own1221
I'm trying to do a scene like But I cant seem to get the interior to have the same diffuse lighting, the window areas just look really bright and the inside really dark.

gdrakakis
that's an interesting scene. could you upload a .3ds file? i am cinema4d used i would like to give it a try. normally i would place one or two area lights as shown in the attachement
archytextural
it looks like there's a secondary light source to the right out of view that's giving the nice even light. the version you've made seems like it's in a solid box with just that light slit to provide all the light for the room. I'd up the secondary bounces, increase the exposure time, or add that second window into the room. Just my 2 cents
own1221
Here is the 3ds file. Thanks for the qdrakakis! Also how do you get a smooth result like in the "lightleak" image?
own1221
New test render, I dont know why the bottom left corner of the wall is really dark but the floor is ultra bright?
gdrakakis
New test render, I dont know why the bottom left corner of the wall is really dark but the floor is ultra bright? hi own1221, i'll test the file later. i don't know how max handles material's properties, but can you control the value of reflected lighting ?(diffuse?) can you assign a diffuse illumination model such as blinn, oren-nayar, or phong? if you can you should be able to have access to sliders that control the diffuse & fall-off amount. what kind of lighting are you using? if you fake the lighting, using lights above the openings, i think that they should attenuate using inverse-square law. own1221
With max you can change how much light is reflected by how dark the diffuse map is, the floor bitmap isnt that much lighter so shouldnt be that bright, it could be the angle of the light though which points more down than towards the wall. With the lighting I'm using vray plane lights (large rectangular lights) for the top opening, and window infront and also another on the right of the camera and behind to simulate two other windows. Please do try out the scene the guy who did the original image used cinema4d too.
