BrianKitts
I need a temporary web based FTP type storage setup for the exchange of info with clients. Specifically I'm hoping to purchase X amount of space for X amount of time that will allow me to setup client logins. I'm hoping to find something that is completely web based, I know I could purchase a file server on the net and manage it that way, but I'm looking for other solutions as I said this is temporary and will probably only be in place for a month or two. Does anyone have recommendations or knowledge of a solution similar to what I'm after? Thanks - bk

denham
Why don't you just use your webserver, setup a new folder & user account, & only allow the client (user) rights to this folder. You don't even have to buy anything.
kainoa
I use http://sharefile.com . There's a free full-functioning 30 day trial. I've been using it for the past couple years and love it. My clients love it too as it's very easy and intuitive. There's no limit on storage space, just on bandwidth (10gb/month). I also love that i can customize the look of it to match our firm's brand. olbo
Quick question for you. Why do you need a web based solution, do you try to avoid that the client needs a FTP client? If so, keep in mind that AFAIK web based solutions do not support resume of uploads, which can be pretty useful for bigger files. Just curious tho. ;o) edit: Looks like I'm a bit oldskool. I quickly checked and of course you can resume uploads per http with java/flash and what not. *whistle* take care Oleg
shaneis
http://www.yousendit.com has secure logins, certified delivery, tracking etc. It's a secure and branded service so you know your files aren't going to end up in the wrong hands. You don't even have to buy anything. i've been thinking of doing this but don't know how the whole bandwidth thing would work. The computer with the files would be at my home and wired into my network there... is there a limit on the amount of files i can move per month? Crazy Homeless Guy
Microsoft just brought Office Live Workspace to the general public. I am testing it now, but my initial feeling is it is similar to SharePoint, only I am assuming not as many features since it is free. Might be worth checking out.
