Mechadus
Im not sure if this is more of a 3DMax problem, or more of an Autocad Problem, but I hope somebody here has had similar issues.... I have a site-plan drawing that was given to me by my client... I dont think this drawing was originaly done in CAD, it may have come from another application. My problem is that when I import this drawing into max, I get an error saying the scale of the drawing is wrong. The actual error states "The incoming drawing measures 1000'x500'x." If I continue, the drawing imports into MAX, BUT it only shows up in the top view... the second I go to a user view, or a perspective view the drawing (and whatever else is in the scene) disappears, and all I can see is the world axis, until I go back to an orthographic view. The same thing happens in Autocad if I switch to a perspective view. Im pretty sure the problem is the scale of the CAD... "1000'x500'x." Since the vertical scale is 0, I think MAX doesn't know how to correctly draw the cad, so the perspective view vanishes. I guess my question would be if anybody else has ever had a similar problem, or a workaround to this issue. I could deal with this if the cad was the only thing that vanished in perspective view, but since it takes everything in the scene with it when it dissappears, its making this quite a problem. Any help would be very greatly appreciated. -Nick
vizwhiz
Nick check To see how far from 0,0 The drawing is located sometimes The SITE work is in decimal feet 1.0 = 1 foot (not inches) also look for a Toggle To "ZOOM EXTENTS" and set check That OFF so it wont go ballistic hope This is helpful, not sure what is going on? Thanks randy
Mechadus
Hey Randy Thanks for the reply... I had thought of the extents toggle, but not the location of the CAD. I tried a few different combinations of the location of the CAD in both MAX and Autocad. Nothing I tried really made any difference tho. Im still pretty sure it has something to do with the Z-scale when it imports into MAX... I still get the warning message saying the dimentions are 1000'x500'x . Im thinking the lack of a value for the Z-scale might be whats causing it... either way, Im pretty much lost. Either way, thanks for the suggestions! -Nick
