RodT
I'm working on this for a proposal that will be comming up in a week or so and would like comments on where to go from here. I'm still working on the reflections for the top floors and any advice would be welcome. Thanks in advance for your time.... http://www.blurringreality.com/images/wosm-g3.png
neko
a couple of things really stand out for me.... 1.) the background environment looks stretched and a little blurred. it just doesn't look right with the general lighting conditions. 2.) some of the planting (especially mid-ground left) is distracting and not very appropriate to the scene. 3.) rock wall material needs some work (looks blurry as well) i think these are easy things to fix.....i'll leave the harder stuff for others to pick up. RodT
Thanks for your eyes, Prodham. I agree with the planting, left, it's unfortunate that I've been requested to use "Russian Olive" which is what that grouping is. I'm working on a better model. Can't say that I care for the species I'll give the rocks and bg image another go............
neko
i've been a big fan of onyx trees since i bought them this year *** i've never been happy using 2D / RPC might be worth the investment. *** i have no affiliation with the company

neko
those are onyx LOL, just tain't in the lib and I'm building them from scratch, guess i've still got an itch really ? i was going on memory when i wrote my second post, but i could have sworn some of the planting looked 2D i haven't tried building trees from scratch - the library is quite good, but i suppose it is a lot harder when you have to build yourself. RodT
So far I'd have to say that I whole heartedly agree, espically with ugly trees like the russian olive which I really consider a weed tree....
ipxstudios
use some falloff on the roof to add some realism
RodT
Thanks for the idea Julian, trying out some right now
cullen
Nice work Rod. There are 2 things that stand out to me. 1. The grass is floating and you can see the base of the light fixtures under the grass plane. 2. The red car doesn't seem to match. I think it's just a texture issue. I would be interested to see what the image looks like with Julian's suggestion.
RodT
Been a flu delay, but here is my update. Julian, I really like the results from using falloff, kicked up the rendering time quite a bit but it was worth it. Cullen, thanks for pointing out the light pole bases. needed to lower the displaced grass a bit. Prodam, swaped out the bg image and deep sixed the russian olive. Increased the displacement on the stones and tried to mask any tiling. http://www.blurringreality.com/images/wosm-g5.png
neko
much better - some good advice goes a long way. would there not be some flashing detail where the roof slopes meet ? it might help tie in the standing seam alignment.
