neko
as i'm sitting here in my home office, i realize that my work space is pretty much dominated by cats. we have three of them now, and there is almost always two of them around me while i work (unless they are outside hunting). i really like them and all, but one cat hijacks my comfy office chair as soon as i leave it....i have no hope of ever getting it back either, and have to pull up another less comfortable chair. another one likes to sit on, or next to, the monitor and paws at the cursor until he is bored. then he sprawls all over the desk and keyboard under the warm glow of a task lamp. just thought i would start a pointless thread to see how others deal with their furry friends (or other animals, of course) while working. Brian Cassil
We have a cat. Just a couple of days ago I replaced my two 19" CRT monitors with 2 24" LCD's (loving this btw). Our cat used to love to lay on top of the CRT monitors while I was working. She's pretty annoyed now.
neko
yup - i still have my old sony CRT, and it is partly because of the cats. you can't get much warmth and comfort from an LCD - everyone is concerned about refresh rates, sharpness and resolution, but nobody thinks of the cats. blowback
I have a dog and 2 cats.......I think the free cat thing is pretty funny, fart joke...but still funny. my cats are kittens....so we not on the same page yet when it comes to the workstation. they have an attachment to the cords that i am dealing with. Lester_Masterson
I use a CRT and LCD combo, and not thinking of the cat, switched them. Cat nearly knocked everything off the desk scrambling to recompose himself. He now sleeps in a cat bed on the desk, instead of on top of the monitor. Other cat just lies on the keyboard or stand directly in front of the monitor. Very frustrating...especially when key-framing
ipxstudios
ha ha - yes my cat sleeps on my chair all the time and the other one walks back and forth behind my monitor then sleeps there all day. Funny - they only do that when I am working there.
RodT
No cats, but a ferrett that happens to love stealing my socks and must have his own CD player as he is always ripping off my CD's DVD's and any errant cable that comes within his sight, then I've got to search all of his haunts to find them............ never have found where he stole my copy of Happy Feet, he must have pawned it for a new CD player or something

Tim Nelson
Here have another cat Initially offended, but then had to laugh. I was never a fan of cats until we got one (my evil wife's doing). I used to have two dogs and now I don't think I will ever have one again. Once you go cat, you never go back.
shaneis
Once you go cat, you never go back. My Great Great Grandmother said the same thing...we've been using the same family recipes for almost 100 years now ;P

Pyke
I dont have a cat currently, but do have a bearded dragon. He doesnt do much...the ultimate batchelor pet. My old cat used to lie ontop of the CRT...and his hair would get caught inside it, to the point where it actually burned out. Twice.
neko
i forgot to add that the reason that i don't use capitals very often in my typing is because i usually have a cat on my lap and only have one hand free (which makes it hard to hold the shift key). cat currently on lap - hard to type

Sawyer
I have to say I never really understood the cat v dog thing. I have mostly had cats but I have also had dogs. I have to say most of whether I like them or not is their personality. I think it possible to like both cats and dogs its just that cats are better
